SHE FUTSAL LEAGUE AT SM LANANG
She Futsal League at SM Lanang July 18-20
THE She Futsal League will be held on July 18-20 at the SM Lanang Premier parking area featuring teams from different clubs in Davao City.
Among them are the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) teams A and B, AdDU Mix, D'DS KHANJ, D'DS Hinex, Sakya Football Club, SOS FC, SOS Girls, Stripling Warriors, University of the Phils. Mindanao and Punta del Sol Beach Resort.
Punta del Sol recently won the Open category in the Havaianas All Girls 7 A Side Futbolfest held at the AdDU Matina field.
“Former Azkal skipper Chieffy Caligdong is arriving together with national player Yannick Tuason on July 20 at SM Lanang,” said Edgar Te of the organizing Maharlika Sports Foundation at the SCOOP Session of The Royal Mandaya Hotel last Tuesday.
Maharlika’s training director David Dwight B. Peñano was also present at the public service sports program sponsored by TRMH, Genesis 88, Mulatto Outdoor and Beefit Gym.
Penano said Maharlika is in partnership with the Department of Education and the European Chamber of Commerce in the Phils. In conducting more sports development programs in the region.
One of them is the “Bansay 101” which aims to develop not only the players but also the coaches and officials.
“It should not only be a short term but also a long term program if we really want to achieve our objectives,” said Penano, a licensed technical official of the Asean Football Confederation (AFC). - LDR

1ST ANDAA SHOOTFEST ON AUG. 2-3
40 trophies up for grabs
DAVAO CITY – Forty trophies will be up for grabs in the first ANDAA Invitational Shootfest slated on August 2 and 3 at the PRO XI Shooting Range in Camp Quintin Merecido in Sitio Catitipan, this city.
“This is open to all practical shooting enthusiasts,” said event chairman Jerome Camiña at the SCOOP Session of The Royal Mandaya Hotel last Tuesday.
Also present at the public service sports program sponsored by TRMH, Genesis 88, Mulatto Outdoor and Beefit Gym was Eiler Fernandez, president of the organizing Alpha Phi Omega ng Dabaw Alumni Association (Andaa).
Trophies will be given to the winners in the Standard, Production, Open, Classic and Revolver divisions, Junior Standard, Junior Production, Junior Classic, Junior Open, Lady Standard, Lady Production, Lady Classic, Lady Open, Senior Standard, Senior Open, Senior Classic, Lawman/Military Standard, Lawman/Military Classic, Range Officer Standard, Range Officer Production, Range Officer Production, Range Officer Classic, APO Member Standard, APO Member Production, APO Member Classic, IBP Member Standard, IBP Member Production and IBP Member Classic.
It is a Level 1 event with five stages. It is sanctioned by the Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA) and supported by the APO Lawman, National Range Officers Institute (NROI), PPSA and IPSC.
Registration fee is P600 with a minimum of 200 rounds.

KadayaJuan Road Bike Challenge on Aug. 17
DAVAO CITY (PNA) July 15 -- A 120-KILOMETER cycling race dubbed as the “KadayaJuan Road Bike Challenge” is set on August 17, Sunday in an out-and-back course in Barangay Maa in celebration of this year’s Kadayawan Festival.
“This will also serve as the elimination for Mindanao to the LBC Ronda Pilipinas,” announced Salvador “Jun”Paholio Jr., deputy secretary general for Mindanao of PhilCycling last Tuesday at the SCOOP Session of The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
There will only be two categories – Open and Executive. The Open division is a team event with each team composed of three Elite riders, two 23Under and one 17Under.
The team champion will earn P8,000 cash plus a trophy while the 1st runner-up will get P5,000 and a trophy. The 2nd runner-up will earn P3,000 and a trophy and 3rd runner-up P2,000. The 4th and 5th runners-up will both get P1,000 each.
In the individual classification, the top three finishers will be awarded P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 with medals.
The top three winners in the Executive will also receive the same cash prizes with medals.
“We hope to get the best riders from this race that will compose our Mindanao team for the Ronda Pilipinas,”Paholio said.
The exciting road race is organized by the Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative (DCSCC), 94.7 News FM and 78.3 One Radio Network. It is sanctioned by Philcycling and in cooperation with the Barangay Council of Maa and the Kabalikat Civicom Mindanao Region-Davao Chapter.
“There will be a live coverage during the race by the two radio stations,” Paholio said.

Pacquiao, Gov. del Rosario to be feted in SKC Awards

SARANGANI Province Representative Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao and Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario are also both awardees in the 20th annual So Kim Cheng Sports Awards set on July 22 at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City.
Pacquiao, reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award while Gov. del Rosario, whose province co-hosted the PRISAA National Games, will get the Sports Leadership Award.
Karateka Gabriel Quinones and chess player Ella Grace Moulic, both 15, are this year’s Male and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively.
Quinones, a 4th year high school student of Brokenshire Science High School, bagged 2 gold medals and 1 silver in the 15th Malaysian Milo Karatedo Open Championships held June 6-8 in Kuala Lumpur.
Moulic, a senior high student of Holy Cross of Davao College, pocketed 4 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze in the ASEAN+ Age Group Chess Championships held in Macau, China. She also emerged champion in the girl’s Under 16 of the 2014 NCFP National Age-Group Championships last April in Quezon Province and in the Batang Pinoy Grand Finals last February in Bacolod City.
“This year’s SKC Awards is much bigger with more raffle prizes,” said John Irene del Campo of SKC Group of Company at the SCOOP Session of The Royal Mandaya Hotel last Tuesday.
Also present at the weekly public service sports program sponsored by TRMH, Genesis 88, Beefit Gym and Mulatto Outdoor was Coach of the Year awardee Rommel Tan of the Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) Davao.
Tan is tied with Moulic’s father-coach Alfred of the Holy Cross of Davao College Chess Club.
Cue artist Lee Van Corteza will be the recipient of the Hall of Fame while plaques of recognition will be given to the Sports Communicators Organization of the Phils. (Scoop) Davao, Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) and veteran photographer Rene “Tatay” Lumawag of Mindanao Times.
Posthumous awards will go to the late sports editor Ramon Maxey of the Edge and chess arbiter and former national master Samuel Yu of the National Chess Federation of the Phils. (NCFP) XI.
“In behalf of the NCFP, I thanked the SKC family for the posthumous award of Sammy,” said NCFP XI Director James Infiesto.

Team awards will be given to the AAK Davao mixed team for winning the gold in the 15th Malaysian Milo Karatedo Open Championships in Kuala Lumpur; 2014 Palarong Pambansa gold winners Region XI girls’ team lawn tennis doubles, Region XI boys’ table tennis doubles and Region XI girls’ team badminton doubles; and Daciba-Homers team for men’s division duckpin bowling champion.
SKC Awards will also recognize the different outstanding sponsors Emcor Davao, NCCC Mall, Kijoji Lions Club of Tokyo and Zoofari Kids Adventure.
City Mayor Rody Duterte and Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte are both invited to grace the affair set at 6 p.m. at the Luzon Ballroom of the Grand Regal Hotel.
